Our rentals operate on a weeklong schedule.  Check in is Saturday afternoon, and checkout is the next Saturday morning.

Prices do not include taxes, which must be paid upon arrival.

June 14 - 21 & June 21 - June 28 are the early season weeks.  While everything will be ready to go, some schools are still in session.  Panther Pond is a little more peaceful and a couple degrees cooler, probably 77 instead of the midsummer 81.  We offer a discount on the cabins this week for those who can make it out of peak season:

Post-season we offer daily rates for customized stays.  You could come on Wednesday and leave on Monday or whatever suits your schedule.  We will be conducting all reservations of less than a week in length through AirBNB.  All stays shorter than one week will have an additional $75 cleaning fee. Dogs are not allowed on the beach for public health concerns.  They may not go swimming from our beach.  Dogs can join guests on boats and go swimming from boats in other parts of the lake, but not in our swimming area.  Guests must clean up after their dogs.

About

Location

Camp Hawthorne Cottages is located on David Plummer Road in Raymond, Maine.  We are nestled in a beautiful cove between the mainland and Betty's Neck, a peninsula extending a half mile into the lake. 

With easy access to the road and town on one side and the woods of the children's camp on the other, it is a perfect location for vacationers to unwind.

The Cottages

The Slovenski Family has been running the children's summer camps on the end of Betty's Neck since 2010.  We love Panther Pond and want to keep it pristine while sharing it with others at Camp Hawthorne Cottages

There are 9 cottages for rent on the property.  Four of them are 2 bedroom and five are 3 bedroom.  They are all within 200 feet of the lake.  Most families return to the same cottage each year. 

Peter & Dugan live in Tennessee in the winter and at Slovenski Camps, the home of Camp Hawthorne (adjacent to the cottages) in the summer. They have three sons who help with camp and the cottages.

 

Mike Slovenski is the manager of the cottages.

The cottages have wifi, a tv, furnished kitchen, an outdoor fire pit, and picnic tables. There are coin operated laundry machines on site, though not in each cabin.

Mother Nature

The beach is sandy and flat.  The entry to the water is gradual, making the swimming exceptional for kids & elderly.  The water ranges from mid 70s in June to 82 in August.  It is a clean & healthy lake. 

The cottages are nestled in the pine trees with a lot of nature all around.  Loons call on the lake frequently, beavers roam around, and fish abound. 

The next town over, Windham, has all the stores you could want.  It is a 15 minute drive to Walmart, two grocery stores, a movie theater, KFC, McDonald's, BK, Taco Bell, DQ, and a host of restaurants with seafood, sushi, BBQ, italian, steakhouses, and chinese food.  

Other towns & attractions in the Lakes Region include Naples and the Causeway, Sebago Lake, Songo River & the Locks, and Seacoast Fun Park.

The distinctive green & white cottages sit amongst pine trees beside the lake.  Each has its own picnic table, charcoal grill, and area complete with a fire pit and free wood.   The area is designed for hanging out indoors and outdoors with equal ease. 
 

The beach has a bunch of adirondack chairs for lounging.  There is a float for swimmers to enjoy as well as three docks connected to shore for parking motor boats.  We have a wide boat ramp for vacationers to put their own boats in the lake (after a careful milfoil inspection!) and places to park a trailer for the week. 

Each cabin has a regular kitchen with fridge, oven, sink, and all the basics like utensils and dishes.  There are supermarkets not far from camp and a host a nice restaurants for those not inclined to cook on vacation.

The cozy interiors of the cabin are walled with tongue & groove pine boards.  Each has its own layout and arrangement, but they all have a couch, TV, and dining table & chairs.  All cabins have wifi.

All other weeks have one or more cottages available for weekly rental.

Returning Vacationers

 

For the 2025 season we will continue with a similar reservation system to that used in 2024 and before. Returning families will have the opportunity to book their same cottage & week by email until the end of February. A non-refundable 50% deposit must be received by March 1st to complete the reservation. Returning families can request changes or additions as available. This year we will be accepting new reservations for previously vacant cottages contemporary with the tail end of the returning guest process. Returning guests should rest assured that they will still have rights of refusal on their incumbent week number and cottage and will also still have a window to request changes before new guest reservations are taken. Online payment options will be available along with the option for check payment. Once your reservation is confirmed via deposit, the balance & tax for your reservation will be due upon arrival. In 2025, you will be provided with an electronic invoice for this balance prior to your arrival which you will be able to pay any time leading up to your stay, due upon arrival as usual.

The schedule for 2025 weeks will follow the usual schedule of 10 weeks ending on Labor Day Weekend.

New Families

 

Registration for new (not returning from 2024) families will open earlier than usual this year; hopefully by late January. Returning guests will be granted a window to respond to inquiry regarding cottage selection in January and through February specific vacancies will be subject to change. Please do not hesitate however to reach out regarding vacancies at any time as much information can be provided respecting availability. Once your reservtion date & cottage number are able to be confirmed, you will be sent a detailed deposit invoice. Deposits are generally due two weeks after an invoice is sent. Balance invoices will be provided in the days leading up to your stay and are due upon arrival. Beginning in March, check out the vacancy list above for specific vacancies, then email or call to move forward with a reservation.

The 2025 Calendar is below. All regular rentals are Saturday to Saturday. The weeks are numbered by counting backwards from the Saturday of Labor Day 10 weeks. Dates and rates for pre and post-season rental will be available on our AirBNB profile (airbnb.com/p/camp-hawthorne-cottages).

*  Families booking week 10 may stay through Labor Day Monday for a discounted rate of $200 (2 bedroom) or $230 (3 bedroom) per night after Friday night. Guests are welcome to stay until Tuesday or longer but must pay for additional nights using the post-season rate
